The 2011 MTV Movie Awards aired live earlier this evening, and if you know anything about this particular awards show, you’ll know it’s a popularity contest. The movies nominated appear to teens and young adults and the winners are determined by that demographic, which, judging by the large amount of Twilight wins each year, I’m guessing is mostly females.
If you love Twilight, then this awards show should be good to go for another year for you, when the final movie is released. This year, the film franchise’s vampire star Robert Pattinson was pretty much the star of the show, winning for Best Male Actor, Best Kiss (with co-star Kristen Stewart), Best Fight Scene (with co-star Bryce Dallas Howard).
He also was one of the actors who presented the Generation Award to Reese Witherspoon.
Aside from the seeing your favorite stars from consistently nominated film franchises like Twilight and Harry Potter, as well as whatever lesbian kiss was in a movie that year, the 2011 MTV Movie Awards always has a few world premieres from upcoming movies.
This year, the show debuted exclusive footage from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and Super 8.
You can watch those videos here below.
SNL star and host of the awards ceremony Jason Sudeikis was hilarious and there was a kick-ass performance by The Foo-Fighters, so if I find video of all that, I’ll post embed here below too. MTV has posted video of all the nominees and notes the winner, if you want to check that out.
