Blackberry 8830

Friday, July 29, 2011
The BlackBerry® 8830 World Edition smartphone is the stylish way to get things done. It’s the first CDMA BlackBerry smartphone capable of roaming globally on GSM®/GPRS networks. So you can travel the world with full mobile voice and data coverage, without having to change smartphones, phone numbers or email addresses.

The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition gives you phone, email, organizer, web browsing and instant messaging. And then it goes a step further, providing GPS, a media player for your video clips and music, and expandable memory to ensure you’ve got the room you need for your media files.

After being loyal to Verizon for fifteen years, I am tired of the over charging, ridiculous pricing, and now $1.95 per line - per month for detailed billing. **** up a rope Verizon! I have determined that Sprint's coverage is just as good, pricing is a million times better, and as for all you complaining about tech support and customer service......it is the same everywhere. Terrible service and support is the industry standard with just about every type of product now.

I was really torn between the Treo 755P and the new Blackberry 8830. My sales associate at the Sprint store highly recommended the Blackberry. Note; he has never used a Palm and I have never owned a Blackberry. I truly think it is narrowed down to what you are used to. I can only imagine if I was a long time Blackberry user, I would rate this phone a 10+++. The graphics are awesome and I can customize my contact synchronization with Outlook (filter only to synch business and leave the personal contacts on my device). I was unable to do this with the Treo 650, and I did utilize both Verizon’s and Palm's tech support. I believe I can do this now with the Palm with, of course, a purchase of software. I love the fact that I can dial through my Bluetooth headset without ever pulling the phone out of the pouch on the Blackberry. One touch of the headset, and I hear, "say a command" through the headset. Did I mention I love this feature?

The graphics rock on this device. I feel like I am at home watching my plasma when I look at this screen. I also enjoy the option of full MP3 for a ringer.

As a prior Palm user, I will say the Palm software is FAR superior to the Blackberry. I can complete twice as many tasks in half the time with the Palm. Whether I am purging a call log, editing a contact, setting an appointment, or customizing the phone, the Blackberry takes triple the amount of steps necessary to complete the task.

I also do not like the fact that I have to remove the battery cover to access the MiniSD card, and the battery life is terrible, even though I was promised it is strong.

I am likely to return the Blackberry and exchange for the Treo 755P. I think the setup is a bit more challenging on the Treo (in all fairness I dig deep and utilize every possible function), however; once setup is complete the phone is very versatile and user friendly. My time is valuable and even considering that I would acclimate to the Blackberry OS, I can accomplish twice as much in half the time with the Treo. Too bad, I really like the look and feel of the Blackberry much better.

Minissha Lamba lashes out at Sagar Ballary

Minissha Lamba blasts her 'Bheja Fry 2' director for badmouthing her. The actress is extremely upset with Sagar Ballary, director of both her films Bheja Fry 2 and the forthcoming Hum Tum Shabana for badmouthing her.

Shocked and hurt Minissha says Ballary is stooping this low just for publicity. "I used to consider Mr Ballary a friend. But if he is trying to get publicity by maligning my name, then he's hardly a friend."

The director, who apparently was at loggerheads with Bheja Fry 2 producer Mukul Deora during the making of the film, has accused the actress of shooting a promotional video for the same 'behind his back'.

Minissha retaliates, "The producer asked me to do the video, so naturally I did it. Why should Mr Ballary have a problem with that? I'm caught in the crossfire between Mr Ballary and the producer of Bheja Fry 2.

Since he can't hurt the producer, he has chosen to make me the scapegoat."

She is also disappointed with his comments about editing her role in the Hum Tum Shabana. "I play the title role in the film. So how can he threaten to chop off my role?"

Saddened by the souring of the friendship, she says, "It takes years to build a friendship, but just a few careless remarks to ruin it. As a director, he should have been more responsible with his words.

I can understand him wanting publicity for his film. But why at my cost? I did Bheja Fry 2 although I had a small role just for Sagar Ballary. And this is what he does!"

The actress had not bothered to confront Ballary after his statements. "What is there to ask him? I've spoken to the producer and he's also upset about Mr Ballary's outburst."

Earlier, the firm's chief operating officer Tarak Bajpai was nabbed from Indore and questioned for investigation into a possible multi-crore rupee fraud.

“We suspected the amount to be Rs.1,320 crore,” Roy added.

The move comes two days after the Criminal Investigation Department froze the company's bank accounts in India.
Roy said the company started operations in April last year and introduced a scheme in which the customers had to first become members by paying a fee of Rs.11,000.

“These members, known as panellists of the company, had to subsequently subscribe to an e-magazine. Every week, the panellists would have to conduct two surveys of the company’s clients for which they would be paid Rs.1,000.

“After continuing this procedure for 52 weeks, each panellist would get Rs.52,000 annually. This money would be transferred in a special account of the company provided to every panellist known as e-wallet,” he added.
Roy said the company paid the money for a few months to the panellists in order to gain their confidence.
“Later, the company stopped paying the money to the panellists, keeping the e-wallet of the panellist as empty as before,” he said.
The company also handed out survey forms of various well-known multi-nationals and claimed that those multi-nationals have registered with Speak Asia for the specific survey. “The companies have denied the same,” Roy said.
Headquartered in Singapore, Speak Asia is yet to be registered as a company in India, officials said. But it had operations only in India and no other Asian countries. The company had 137 franchises in Maharashtra, four of which are in Mumbai.
The company’s chief executive officer (CEO) is a Singapore-national Harendar Kaur. The India CEO Manoj Kumar is currently untraced and on tne run.

Bajpai, who handles the India operation for the company, however, told reporters that it was just a “small” probe that he was asked to respond to, and sought to tell Speak Asia members, who number some two million, that the operations were not above law.
Asked for the specific cause of the arrest, Bajpai sought to dodge the question, saying he was only going to respond to certain questions that may be raised by the probe officials and that he was not being arrested.
Earlier this month, the ministry of corporate affairs had also ordered an investigation by the Registrar of Companies into issues such as the firm's management structure, as also the reason why it was not registered in the country.
Once a member joins up and pays a fee of Rs.11,000, Speak Asia allows him to respond to market research which clients want conducted. Members also earn reward points, that can be encashed, for giving opinions on product and other promotional strategies.
In its website, the company says: "The company and its business are legal." The company dispatches money from Singapore by way of bank transfer, without the members having to even visit their banks, it says.
